Wren Caswell is average. Ranked in the middle of

her class at Sacred Heart, she’s not popular, but

not a social misfit. Wren is the quiet, “good” girl

who's always done what she's supposed to—only

now in her junior year, this passive strategy is

backfiring. She wants to change, but doesn’t know

how.

Grayson Barrett was the king of St. Gabe’s. Star of

the lacrosse team, top of his class, on a fast track to

a brilliant future—until he was expelled for being

“term paper pimp.” Now Gray is in a downward

spiral and needs to change, but doesn’t know how.

One fateful night their paths cross when Wren,

working at her family’s Arthurian-themed catering

hall, performs the Heimlich on Gray as he chokes

on a cocktail weenie, saving his life literally and

figuratively. What follows is the complicated,

awkward, hilarious, and tender tale of two teens

shedding their pasts, figuring out who they are—

and falling in love.

Robin Constantine is a born and bred Jersey girl
who moved down South so she could wear flip-
flops year round. She spends her days dreaming up
stories where love conquers all, well, eventually
but not without a lot of peril, angst and the
occasional kissing scene.

Her YA debut, THE PROMISE OF AMAZING,
will be released in 2014 by Balzer + Bray, an
imprint of HarperCollins Publishers.

The Promise of Amazing held up its promise. It was amazing. This was a great young adult book. The characters were flawless. The story line was great. It had drama, sweet love, and guys I could have knocked on his ass.

Wren was the girl next door. I don’t mean the naughty one either. She was quiet, shy, and on the straight and narrow. Even though she is all those things I know deep down she had that bad streak wanting to come out but figuring it out for her was next to impossible. She was more concerned about school and grades than I ever gave cared about mine. In the end she finds her way but is it good enough.

I <3 Grayson. He is a playboy but damn it if he isn’t cute. He finds Wren who helps him out in shedding past transgressions that he still hangs onto. Wren brings out the boy who wants love and no more playboy ways.

I really did enjoy the familiarity between Wren and her best friends, Mads and Jazz. I also loved how mad and fired up Luke got me. You won’t like him. He is so wrong for all of what he pulled. I am giving this book four hearts. It is a fantastic read. It keeps you intrigued right from the start.

  1. I honestly feel like Wren is a character I can relate to. I can't wait to read this, just so I can see how true that feeling is. Plus, Grayson does sound awesome. I've always liked those "lost souls" so to speak.
